Do Not Conform Any Longer

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.Then you will be able to test and approve what God‘s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will Romans 12:1,2

A pattern is when we see things repeating themselves, our brains are prone to do this. Whether it's colors, objects, or behaviors, we can see them. In our world, we see the same thing, but it's a different day, a different year. Our world is filled with people who want their way, and have no desire to seek God. They seek pleasure in places other than God. The world's ways are opposite of God's ways. The second part of the verse says to renew our minds. This verse tells us what the most important thing is - do not conform to this world and renew our minds.
After we do this, we can test and approve God's will as we walk in His ways. It is letting Jesus have complete control. He reveals, and we agree.
I need to recognize when the world entices me with marketing and advertisements and tries to pull me away. I have to notice the objects and idols. These can be obvious but that doesn't mean I have to accept and choose them.
When I open my heart to Jesus and allow Him to evaluate it, He reveals what He sees. He shows me what I am putting my faith in. He shows me who I am chasing after and the idols I have. My job is to listen.
​If He shows me something, I must turn around, and follow Him.
What am I doing with my time? Am I reading God's Word and then forgetting what it says?
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
2 John 1:6
He watches over me with loving care. He reveals the things in my heart so I will see them, run to Him, and allow Him to purify. He wants me to choose His ways so my life can bring glory to Him. He wants to create a pure heart and a steadfast spirit in me.
Psalms 51:10
If I live the world's way, it will wreak havoc in my spirit and I could fall prey to sin which would drag me down a path that God never intended for me to walk. I must follow Him closely and intentionally. He knows the sincerity of my heart and my desire to walk with Him and follow Him.
When I surrender, abide, lean in, align myself with Him, and reset my focus these are all ways that I seek Jesus and not this world.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares, the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
I have a responsibility to seek the Lord with all my heart.
He knows when I am pretending or playing. He knows when I am too busy and haven't made time for Him. He knows when sin is in my heart. He desires that I agree with Him, confess my sin, and be cleansed.
